100 Experiments Challenge

What it is

Non-profits are fully aware about the shifts digital technology has created. You only have to look at the following logos to know what they have in common:

Unfortunately, as any of the companies can tell you, digital change doesn’t happen in a day.  The problem is not a lack of awareness – it’s more of a need for guidance and direction on what steps to take. It’s also difficult to discern when those changes should be made.

Given non profits’ challenges of funding, resources and expertise, the key to digital change is to start small, with experiments. Experiments give your non profit the ability to test changes, without making a commitment to changing entire structures or processes. For this challenge, the first place to start is your website.

How it works

Each week you get an email that outlines what small improvement you can test on your website. The goal is to put in small, consistent changes that will eventually improve your website and in turn, transform your organization.

Why the challenge?

Non profits don’t deserve bad websites! Unfortunately, most are managed by solo staff members (usually communications staff) who are often too overwhelmed by all their other tasks to make the website a priority.

Non profits are now competing daily with websites that are interactive, personalized and user focused. We need to adapt the way we apply technology. The best way is to provide tools and action plans for busy people, to help them make consistent improvements.

Future plans are for users to join a community on Facebook (once I have over 50 signups)! The goal is for anyone involved in non profit technology to form a community where we can all help each other by discussing challenges and solutions.
